FormMount Update! Thank you for your patience

Hello Backers,
Thank you for your patience awaiting our updates. A lot going on these last couple of weeks. We received our funding last week (it usually takes 10-15 days after the campaign ends). We alerted our vendors on that final campaign day that the project was a success and began the mold ordering, final mold designs, resin material ordering, etc. Your input during the campaign drove us to prototype long arms, the wahoo insert and the GoPro attachment which are all in this production run and are all free of charge to Kickstarter backers! That effort was VERY expensive for us in added prototyping costs, new mold designs, free parts and in the process even pushed us into the need for a second full mold - and we pressed on! We hope this shows our commitment to this platform and to the Kickstarter community and we know that you will all love the final products. That said, it did push the manufacturing into January creating a bit of a delay to our initial plans, however we know it was worth the time and extra monies needed for success. Our molder, Three R, provided us with the CAD today that they will be using to cut the molds - as the material arrives, we plan regular updates to show everyone what is going on with the tooling, first run parts and final product ready for shipping.
We will be using the services of BackerKit for everyone's convenience in fulfillment. They really have a first class program.
Some mold pictures for your viewing pleasure.
Thank you again for the support and patience as we moved from successful funding to these next rounds of updates. We are excited about bringing you the FormMount platform!!
We have recently moved the campaign to Indiegogo due to continued demand. Please tell your friends!
Sincerely,
Tim, Frank & Mike - F3 Cycling, LLC

Thanks to all the backers, vendors, and supporters FormMount has been successfully funded! We will be posting updates in the coming days. We spent today happily freezing at Chicago area cyclocross race. Fun stuff. We have spent the last weeks (once knowing we were meeting our goal) really digging in and tweaking the product and doing some phone mount testing to make sure we were making the best version of it with the right materials. This week we will be nailing down the production schedule, ordering the materials, bolts etc. Excited to build a really nice detailed component for everyone. We have been humbled by the demand and inquiries about distribution, shop purchases, etc we will continue a campaign on IndieGoGo on their InDemand within a day or so. Kickstarter backers, of course, received the best pledge levels and giveaways that we could provide, so those details will change. Thank you all so much - you will love this new mounting platform!!

Phone Mount and a couple of nice projects

Hi Kickstarter,
We continue to work hard nailing down final details to get into production with FormMount, the GoPro attachment, and the long/short arms, etc. That said, this is a modular platform and we have been tweaking our design of the magnetic phone mount. We are very happy with he result and fine details making this a simple to use, elegant looking bike component. Nickel coated magnets that attach directly to a thin, formed steel plate that looks like a nice design attached to the back of your phone case. We wanted the phone case attachment to be thin, minimalist and look like an intentional simple design on the back of your phone, PLUS make it function very well. Form Follows Function (F3), The exposed magnets give an excellent magnetic bond. The phone can be rotated in landscape or portrait and interlock into 4 hemispherical shaped indentations that give very nice security on bumpy rides. A video update to follow in a few days, for now enjoy these updated pictures. The phone attachment will be available for pre-order post Kickstarter through our website @ www.f3cycling.com.

Bolts & Molds & CNC, Oh My!

Hi Kickstarter backers,
A long day for us today, but a great one. We met with our bolt vendor this morning and 3R, our molder/CNC partner this afternoon. Its great to have these two high quality vendors within an hour of us. We poured over blueprints, dimensions & fine details.
FormMount is not just a mount - it is a mount system. It is not just a mount, it is an integral component to your bike. We take that seriously and want the fit, finish and function (another nod to F3) to be something that we are proud to deliver and you will be proud to own.
BOLTS - We have designed them custom to the millimeter. We have designed them custom for FormMount. Stainless steel. Strong. The shape of the head, The allen wrench cavity, the length of the threads, the unthreaded shoulder. Measuring to the CNC insert to the millimeter to get that just right fit. Made in the USA. Specific for FormMount and the application. Traceable lots of USA produced steel. AND, coming in a future video update - tensile strength testing a bolt to failure - which is just plain fun to see. The right material in the right places.
Inspecting coils destined to be bolts
Coiled raw material, stored indoors, made in the USA, lot traceable
MOLDS - Several hours fine tuning the blueprints at 3R. Detailing the function, getting ready to cut the molds and have the fit be top notch. Discussing a production plan to get started ASAP creating the "steel safe" molds to get first off tool parts, to then tweak and dial in for the production parts. Really looking at everything in fine detail. Also, more time spent tweaking the upcoming phone mount attachment. We are so serious about Form, Follows, Function (there is that F3 again) - we want it to be something that WE want personally, because we are picky!! Keep watching the updates for more news. It is coming and I want one!
Pages & pages of drawings
CNC - Same effort. Finalizing the shape of the stainless steel CNC part that gets over-molded into the carbon/kevlar filled arms. The right length, the right thickness, the right tapered edge. The aluminum spacers set (3 lengths) - dialed in to the millimeter, anodized black to blend. The right materials in the right places.
