Insert recall update - International
about 9 years ago – Mon, May 08, 2017 at 11:38:40 AM

Following up to the update from a few minutes ago, we've already received emails with concerns about customs charges.

No worries.

The inserts are shipping in a #10 envelope with a first class international stamp. We were told by the USPS that no customs forms will need to be filled out.

FormMount Backers, you have all been so patient and subsequently so complimentary of FormMount as you have received them. The response and following demand to our products have been humbling. That said, we have been advised by a couple of users that their inserts (the quarter turn interface that holds the computer) have cracked/broken. This, as you can imagine, sent us into a frenzy trying to figure out how it could have happened.

Our goal was to recreate the documented failure modes as best we could, and also to estimate percentage of Wahoo/Garmin inserts effected. Among our existing inventory, we have found a very small percentage of them that could incur the same failure mode experienced by some backers. The issue has successfully been traced back to material processing as of this morning. Since we can't be certain what percentage of inserts out in the field may be effected, we are choosing to recall the entire run of shipped Garmin/Wahoo inserts received by our Kickstarter backers.

No other part of FormMount is affected. We re-reviewed all of the parts.

So, our molder is working immediately to mold new inserts. We will be sending them out shortly and will update you on timing. Initial feedback is that the parts can be produced starting this Friday.

Show off your bike. And your FormMount.

Hey backers,

Great news...we’ve been pulling all-niters all-week and expect to have all-backers in the mail in a few days. So, since everyone will finally have FormMount on their machines very soon, I have another photo request:

In addition to the photo request in Update #40. We’d love to show off your FormMount on your bike in a GALLERY section I’ll be adding to our site (f3cycling.com). You are the reason for our success and we want to show our gratitude. Be creative. Have fun. Oh, and make sure everyone can clearly see how you’re using it. Versatility is a hallmark of FormMount so we want you to give ideas to each other.

Here’s an example: Ethan from Santa Barbara

Submit photos directly to me with your name and location (only your first name will be used): mike @f3cycling.com

We can’t express enough our appreciation for your patience. And we can’t wait to hear and “see” your feedback!

Show off your FormMount. Get rewarded.

Hey there backers,

I’m looking for a hero photo of FormMount for the home page of F3cycling.com. Here’s a chance to show off your bike and of course, your new FormMount. And be prominently featured on our site. Pretty cool, right? Okay that’s it for my sales pitch.

If your photo is chosen, you get 2 free FormMounts and choice of accessories. To be fair, no selection will be made until all backers receive their mounts to have an equal opportunity.

For my real job I’m an advertising creative director, so here’s my art direction: Attached is the photo we had been using during our KS and IGG campaigns, It’s an early prototype and not representational of our final product. It is however, a good reference for composition. Also attached is the placeholder in there now, but it’s out of place as the others on the home page are scenic outdoor images. As you can see, the headline over this photo is: The baddest looking most adaptable mount ever created. So obviously a close up is needed, but your machine will be seen, and ideally a scenic background.

Your support has been appreciated throughout our campaigns. It’s been instrumental in helping us form F3. If you are as passionate about photography as you are cycling, we would greatly appreciate that support as well.
